To gain karma you need an active post on the boards. So if for example CjayC or sailor bacon needed to gain karma wouldn´t he need to have an active post on the boards. So there must be one out there right.

Oh and how come Ceej isn´t no.1 karma user being 1 after all.

1. You dont need an active post. Just need to login.
2. CjayC has active posts all the time on MBA.
3. He didnt login everday. He has taken breaks from time to time unlike some other users.

CJayC does log in pretty much every day. However, the exact requirements for gaining karma have changed a few times. At one point, you only got karma if you posted at least once on a given day. Since CJayC doesn't post every day, a few of us were able to catch up with him during that time.

He's been breathing down my neck ever since, because these days he gains karma at exactly the same pace I do.

I think Gunblade has been ahead of CJayC in karma, and then dropped back by missing a login. CJayC probably won't overtake him on the list until his karma is actually higher.

I personally hate the karma boost because it pushes the high karma users farther and farther away.

Believe me, I don't like it either. When you have this much karma, the only point it still has is seeing your name as high on that HKU list as possible. For that, the karma boost works against me in exactly the same way it works against you.

It's a hopeless crusade by now, anyway; the 12 people still left above me on the list never miss a day or lose karma in moderations. I'm not any closer to them than I was two years ago.

The only people who should hate the boost are the HKU.

For the rest it helps us reach the next level. Without the boost I'd need 159 instead of 108 to be ...whatever the 700 one is.

Boost days? I thought they were the "many people whining that they missed the boost when it hadn't happened yet and they hadn't checked MBA" days.

Anyways, The way I figure it is that if all the high karma users leave for three years, I can catch up. With the karma boost next year it will be four years, and so on.
